Water Edu-Kits – Youth Water Quality Testing

Water Edu-Kits - Youth Water Quality Testing

The first event was held with a school group from Martensville. Staff with SSRWSI and Partners FOR the Saskatchewan River Basin spent the morning with students discussing plants, critters and testing the water. The results from the water testing were shared with the class.

The second kit was used with youth from Osler in conjunction with the Osler Library programming. We brought wetland plants from a nearby wetland and taught the youth what they were and why they are important in maintaining water quality. Town staff had brought water from their wetlands on the west side of Osler and we did water testing with the kids and shared the results with the library staff.

This project was funded by EcoFriendly Saskatchewan and the kits are provided through Trout Unlimited Canada. The Water Edu-Kit program is a national education program aimed at raising awareness among youth about issues relating to water quality and pollution.
